German title: Albträumer
When Rebekka comes to rest, she catches sight of Dennis in her sleep. He haunts her in her nightmares. Dennis was Rebekka's brother and took his own life two years ago. On the day of his death, Rebekka and her parents commemorate him at his grave. Vincent, Dennis' best friend at the time, suddenly appears and disturbs the mourners. His appearance opens up old wounds. Rebekka’s parents and the rest of the village community agree: Vincent is abnormal, and he is to blame for Dennis’ suicide. Although Rebekka is anything but pleased to see Vincent again, she feels strangely attracted to him and meets him again and again. She wants to understand her brother and find out why he jumped off the bridge. In the process, the two become increasingly closer, much to the displeasure of her parents. They try to keep Vincent away from Rebekka: “It is in our nature to always want to protect you, even from yourself if necessary”. But they do not realise that the façade they are trying so hard to maintain has been crumbling for a long time.
