The Mortimers

In a small village in Spain, the Mortimer family runs the local funeral home. In the eyes of the village community, they are a strange family. For Nico Mortimer, this means constant teasing at school and a childhood full of nightmares. When French exchange student Gabrielle Barrois moves in with the Mortimers, she discovers a world between horror and reality with Nico. One night, they come across a corpse, nothing unusual in a cemetery. But this one is different: fresh, bloody, with valuable jewels lying next to it. When they want to show their discovery to the parents, however, the dead body has disappeared. From then on, they can’t get the find and the questions out of their minds. Who removed the traces? Who did the jewels belong to? And why do gravedigger Paul’s stories suddenly seem frighteningly close to reality? Together, Nico and Gabrielle enter into a dangerous game that will test their friendship and draw them deeper into the world of the dead than they would ever have wished.
