Blue Fiddle
Ten-year-old Molly lives with her mother and brother Jack in County Donegal, a rural area of Ireland. While her father lies in a coma, Molly is convinced that she can wake him up by learning to play the violin and winning the All-Ireland Competition. Amidst the sun-drenched bays, among gentle waves and rugged cliffs, she meets Malachy, a reclusive and gruff but thoroughly talented violinist who lives in the same rehabilitation centre as her father. Malachy, once a celebrated musician, is described by the villagers as someone who has „magic in his hands“. Molly persuades him to teach her, and together they embark on a journey of healing and musical growth. In addition to her lessons, she masters small performances, practises with other emerging musicians and prepares for competitions. The focus is on the growing intimacy between teacher and student and the importance of music as a means of communication between Molly and her father.
