Rogue
Kayzbek is a bright, cheeky boy who constantly gets himself into trouble. One day he steals his classmates’ football, another day he annoys the kids next door with a homemade spit tube. But Kazybek actually just wants a playmate. When a stray dog shows up one day, it seems like his wish has come true. After all, dogs are man’s best friend. He names him Zhabayy – Kazakh for “wild” – and thanks to the little “rogue”, the boy suddenly becomes a popular playmate among the children in the neighbourhood. The adults, on the other hand, are anything but enthusiastic about the boy’s four-legged friend. Under the strict supervision of the grumpy Mr. Daulet, the dog is only allowed to stay in the neighbourhood playground until a new home for him is found. Gradually, Zhabayy brings the neighbourhood closer together, and Kazybek realises that he is not so alone after all. But then the clever stray becomes the target of strangers whose intentions are anything but friendly.
