A Wizard Called Rye
Original title: Kouzelník Žito
German title: Der Zauberer vom Roggenfeld
Orphan Žito grows up well cared for by an old farmwoman. She shares her wisdom with him and teaches him to be an honest young man with a pronounced sense of justice. When he, like all young men, is conscripted to perform military service as a soldier at the royal court, he quickly reaches his moral limits. He secretly uses his task as a tax collector to free the citizens from the taxes. Even the princess likes clever Žito, but he is a thorn in the side of evil governor Neklan. In the meantime, all hell has broken loose. Demon Filiština has been watching the young man since his childhood and has fallen in love with him over the years. She would love to drag almost heavenly Žito into devilish abysses. She comes up with an idea: if she equips him with magic powers that enable him to do justice to everyone in the kingdom, power will corrupt him in the end. Žito's heart is put to a demonic test by the dark forces.
