The Princess and Half the Kingdom
Original title: Princezna a půl královstv
German title: Die Prinzessin und das halbe Königreich
Once upon a time there was a king and a queen, who had a single daughter - Kateřina. Handsome king Egon from the neighbouring kingdom asked for her hand in marriage. However, when the wedding preparations were in full swing, something monstrous happened. An evil dragon dragged the princess into his cave. As Egon could not be found, the king announced that whoever saved his daughter would get her as a wife and half the kingdom as well. Simple peasant boy Honza set off with his huge iron hammer and freed the princess. You might think they got married and lived happily ever after. But no, this fairy tale takes a different course because princess Kateřina wants king Egon to be her husband and not clumsy Honza, who has no manners and cannot even fence. When Honza sees Kateřina’s sad face on their wedding day, he renounces the princess and returns to his village. But soon Kateřina has to realise that she has been mistaken about vain, self-regarding Egon.
