Pahuna - The Little Visitors
Original title: Pahuna
German title: Pahuna - Zuhause im Wald
Violence and conflicts in the Himalayas: The children Amrita and Pranay flee with baby Bishal from their native Nepal to the Indian province of Sikkim. Their parents stay behind and give their offspring into the care of the inhabitants of their mountain village. At the campfire, the village elder tells scary stories about the “childeating pastors” in Sikkim, which frighten Amrita and Pranay who flee into the dark woods, where they hide from a roving pastor in a rusty caravan. Now brother and sister have to take care of baby Bishal on their own: they do their washing in the nearby river, make fire and change the nappies. Pranay tends the small herd of an old goat herder in exchange for the vitally needed goat milk. As food becomes scarce, Amrita begins to help a pregnant woman in her everyday life. So the baby must stay alone in the shelter during his afternoon nap. When Amrita forgets the time one day, the minibus is towed away – but where is Bishal? The siblings desperately search for their brother and find not only one family member again.
