Original title: Kiss and Cry
German title: Kiss & Cry
At a party, 18-year-old figure skater and singer Carley gets to know her classmate John more closely. He immediately tries to make friends with Carley. Although she seems disinterested and unapproachable, he manages to invite her to a date. After she is selected for the team that is to participate in the Olympic Games, coach Shin instructs Carley to treat victories like funerals and funerals like victories. Everything seems to be going well, but during her first date with John, Carley breaks down and is taken to hospital. There she gets the diagnosis: cancer. It is a very rare form, which makes her one of 3.5 billion people. Thanks to a tracheostomy she can breathe again and lives almost like a normal teenager with all the related problems – love sickness, school routine and graduation ball. With the support of her family and friends, she declares war on cancer, she fights and even makes a comeback to the ice. She decides – as does the heroine of the underlying true story – to live according to her motto: “Always smile and hold your ground!”
