Do It Right
Original title: De toutes mes forces
German title: Machs gut!
When Nassim’s depressive mother dies of an overdose of pills, the 16-year-old is sent to a youth centre and finds himself in two completely different worlds. In the morning, he attends a “hip” Paris grammar school and is surrounded by his fellow students coming from a privileged background. He tells them he now lives with an uncle and enjoys many freedoms. He keeps the conflicts and problems he is confronted with in the youth centre a secret from them. He does not even tell his girlfriend Eva about his new life. In the youth centre, Nassim is an outsider until he strikes a “deal” with a girl called Zawa. She works with him for maths, and he helps her to prepare her entrance examination at a medical university. Gradually, Nassim begins to socialise with the other young people and to reduce his prejudices against them. But thereby, he gets into even greater conflicts with his old friends, especially as Eva is beginning to become suspicious. When she discovers the truth, Nassim has to learn to bring his two very different lives together.
