Living Large

Twelve-year-old Benjamin Pipetka lives together with his mother, a vet, and exotic animals. Ben is a humorous and creative teenager who is in the middle of puberty. In his spare time, he plays in a band with his best friend Erik. But his greatest passion is cooking and eating. At the start of the new school year, however, Benʼs obesity becomes a problem when the school nurse sounds the alarm and urgently recommends that he lose weight. At the same time, Ben is bullied by three of his classmates. These events make him doubt himself, especially when he falls in love with beautiful Klara. Wanting to please her, Ben starts a diet. But as a result, he loses his zest for life and his creative energy. When Klara finally tells him that she only feels friendship, Ben falls into an emotional hole and neglects school and the band. Only an open conversation with his fatherʼs new girlfriend gives Ben the courage to accept himself the way he is – even with his imperfect body.
