The Israeli port city of Haifa in summer 1968: The teenager Arik takes on a summer job with the matchmaker Yankele Braid, a Holocaust survivor. The office is located in the rundown port area in the back room of a cinema, which is operated by a Romanian family of small stature people and where one love story after another is shown. His parents would not allow Arik to stay in this quarter. But due to his work he has to roam the streets and spy on the potential marriage partners of Yankel’s customers to check their credibility. This opens up a completely new world for Arik, and when he falls in love with the wild cousin of his friend, he experiences would not the most exciting summer of his life.
