Ten year-old Pete hides in a world of observation insects. He is terminally ill with brain cancer and confined to a wheelchair. He has one last dream: to catch the most beautiful butterfly on earth, the legendary Mariposa Azul. This Blue Butterfly, a magnificent and mystical creature can be found only in the tropical rain forests of Central and South America. You can get answers to the mysteries of the world, just by looking at it. Teresa, Pete's single mother, is brave and determined to overcome any obstacle that stands in the way of his dream. She convinces Alan Osborn, a renowned entomologist, to take them to the jungle. Will the Blue Butterfly really grant a wish of the boy?
