Bartali's Bicycle
Original title: La Bicicletta di Bartali
German title: Bartalis Rennrad
David and Ibrahim, two teenagers from Jerusalem, train in rival cycling teams. Despite their rivalry, they share a passion for the sport and begin to train together in secret. It soon becomes apparent that they can push each other to achieve their best performances. However, in Jerusalem, which is characterised by prejudice, their friendship is met with rejection. When their teams find out about it, they are pressurised into breaking off their friendship and are eventually kicked off the teams. But with the support of Davidʼs grandfather and Ibrahimʼs grandmother, who both understand the importance of tolerance, they form their own team. Inspired by the story of Gino Bartali, who saved Jewish people with his racing bike in Italy during the Second World War, David and Ibrahim show that friendship knows no boundaries. They overcome prejudices, follow their hearts and prove that it’s people who count – not origin or religion.
