Miss Boots
Original title: Mille Bottine
German title: Miss Pantoffel
When her grandmother passes away, eleven-year-old orphan girl Simone and her best friend, a skunk, move in with her previously unknown, somewhat cranky uncle Philip, turning his life upside down. Philip is experiencing a serious creative crisis as a pianist and composer because he is running out of inspiration and ideas. He also suffers from severe heartache because of his lost love and struggles with social phobia and anxiety disorders. Simone, with her dominant demeanour and big heart for animals, is a real challenge for him. Despite their completely different characters, Simone and Philip soon realise that they may need each other more than they thought. The girl teaches Philip to enjoy life again and, together with his friend Paul and the warm-hearted music teacher Alice, sparks new ideas for his opera. At the same time, Simone learns a lot about the creation of sound works and the inner workings of an opera company. However, the insidious opera director Menard and a series of unexpected incidents put numerous obstacles in the way of the initiation of a “second life”.
