Yasmeen's Element
Original title: Yasmeen's Element
German title: Yasmins Element
The seventh grade students in a small Pakistani village are about to take their exams. When twelve-year-old Yasmin loses the piece of paper with the topic she wrote down for her class presentation on her way home, she is faced with a dilemma because she has forgotten an important element from the periodic table. Courageous and determined, she sets off to find the teacherʼs house unknown to her in order to be given the presentation topic once again. But this is easier said than done: wrong paths appear and stony hurdles stand in her way leading through the entire remote mountain village. Neither her brother nor complete strangers can help her. But Yasmin, who now sees her world from a completely new perspective and learns about many of the problems of the adult world, never gives up and always remains curious and strong-willed. In the end, the eager learner finds the teacher. However, it is becoming increasingly uncertain whether she will ever be allowed to present her topic in class.
