Akiko, the Flying Ape
Original title: Akiko, der fliegende Affe
German title: Akiko, der fliegende Affe
Little monkey boy Akiko lives in a zoo and feels very much at home there. He visits his friends during the day because he still easily fits through the bars. One day, however, his grandfather confides a secret to him: The zoo is not the home of the monkey family at all, but the forest, which is one hundred thousand times bigger than his cage. When a remote-controlled aeroplane crashes and lands directly in grandfatherʼs lap, he sends his grandson on a great mission: Akiko is to look for his relatives in the forest so they can free the captive animals.
The little monkey bravely sets off. But soon his map flies away and there is no forest to be found. Fortunately, there are many animals living comfortably in the big city, who help Akiko and even provide him with a yellow mini-racing car. But they have never seen a forest either. ‘Thatʼs just a child‘s dream,’ they say. But Akiko is not dissuaded from his plans, and he is certainly not afraid of the police or the fanatical zoo director.
