German title: Bücherwurm
Living alone with her mum, eleven-year-old Mildred has slightly different hobbies than her peers. On her bedroom wall there are posters of wild animals with a reward for sightings. Among them is the legendary black ‘Canterbury’ panther, which is said to roam the forests of New Zealand, Mildredʼs homeland. After her mother unexpectedly falls into a coma following an accident, her father, whom she had never met before, suddenly appears. At first, the two of them find no common ground when dealing with each other. But then they set off together in full camping gear to search for the panther and begin to get to know each other better as father and daughter. Their chances of winning the prize money seem good when their victory is contested by an unexpected party. Now they have to work hard together to secure proof of the pantherʼs existence and get the money, which is much more important to Mildred than it seems at first glance.
