Falcon Lake
Original title: Falcon Lake
German title: Falcon Lake
Bastien is 13 and spends his summer holidays in rural Canada. Together with some friends, a married couple and their 16-year-old daughter Chloé, the family stays in an idyllic cabin at Falcon Lake. A strong bond of friendship develops between Bastien and Chloé. They go swimming, talk about their fears and dreams. Chloé tells him the story of a boy who drowned in the lake some years ago and whose ghost is still there. Bastien soon has a crush on Chloé. But Chloé meets slightly older Oliver and takes a liking to him. Nevertheless, she also comes closer to Bastien. When they both drink wine, she takes care of him when he feels unwell afterwards. Together they attend a party where Chloé encourages Bastien to dance. He wows the other party guests with his break-dancing skills, but then disappears when he sees Chloé together with Oliver. Bastien is torn between blissful closeness to Chloé, jealousy and hopeless desire. In a frenzy of sexual awakening, emotional turmoil, first experience of love and intimacy, cannabis and alcohol, he is heading inexorably towards disaster.
