Lame-os
Original title: Tizlenes / Zoufalky
German title: Lahm-Ärsche
Katrina, Sarmite and Sveta may be best friends, but in their school they are considered lame-os. Their clothes belong in a museum, and their intellectual talk is somewhat between reverie and reality. They are not all that bright at school either, and they do not stand a chance with the boys. The year is 1999 – people are clattering away at cumbersome computers and exchange first text messages with bulky mobile phones. At the millennium celebration, the three of them realise what they lack: self-confidence. They decide to become the hippest and most popular girls of the whole school. The New Year’s appearance of the dressed-up girls, including a flirt attack on the boys, turns into a fiasco, and a tampon battle they stage in the classroom is a major embarrassment. Finally, the three girls remember their real qualities – charm, creativity, and knowledge. By the time they graduate, they want to outdo the boys in grades, and participating in a theatre production is also part of their plan.
