A Butterfly's Heart
Original title: Drugelio širdis
German title: Das Herz eines Schmetterlings
Juozapas is a quiet boy who grows up in a safe environment and is even taught by a private tutor. He has no friends in the small town, so he is always seen alone in his super-wide woollen jumper. That’s why the other children, especially “Boss” Benas, tease him and call him Balloon. Nobody knows the secret he is hiding under his jumper and why he prefers to stay in the abandoned mansion. In the rooms of this house, Juozapas has set up insect hotels to breed beetles of shimmering colours, cockroaches, crickets, and even butterflies in a disused piano. His seclusion ends when cheeky, curious Rugilė moves into the area and secretly follows him to the mansion. She is enthralled by the strangely beautiful atmosphere in the dilapidated halls and befriends Juozapas. From now on, they spend every spare minute together, taking care of the insects and fending off the attacks of Benas and his boys. Then, at the end of the summer, Rugilė is the first to whom Juozapas confides his closely guarded secret.
