Vanya had actually wanted to fly to Spain with his father during the summer holidays, like every year. But since the boy failed at swimming practice, he is not allowed to go. His father sends him to aunt Nadya instead, where he used to spend his summer holidays as a child. This is not really a punishment for Vanya, because in the remote house by the river he reads a lot and discovers an old diary in Nadya’s cupboard. He also meets his friends Masha and Kirill again. Although he has not been to the small town for a long time, the three of them get along just as well as before. They decide to do without their mobile phones this summer. So they experience many adventures in the forest and on the water, explore an abandoned pioneer camp or sleep outside in a tent. However, Masha turns both boys’ heads and their friendship is challenged anew. While Vanya is still racking his brains about how to confess his love to Masha, Kirill is already one step ahead. But Masha does not know how to deal with this new situation either.
