Alicia is strong and creative. She writes short stories and dreams herself into them to escape her own reality, at least temporarily. In real life, she is not a princess, but a girl who is passed back and forth between foster families. Nowhere does she find a home, because something is missing. Her father is a war veteran and homeless. After returning from Iraq, he is no longer himself. Due to a brain injury, he is mentally unstable and a danger to himself and others. But his “princess” loves him unconditionally and firmly believes that she can protect and help him. When a new family takes her in, this is her chance to change her life for the better. However, the allocated new home is far away from where her father lives. An odyssey on the run from the law begins. Alicia tries everything to make her father happy and goes far beyond her limits. It is only when Alicia understands her social worker's statement that she begins to let go: “All the love in the world can't heal something like this.
