Lola
Original title: Lola vers la mer
German title: Lola und das Meer
Lola is young and free. But she has had no contact with her father Philippe since she came out as a transsexual. When Lola’s mother Catherine dies, Philippe even makes sure that Lola is late for the funeral service and deprives her of the opportunity to bid a last farewell. She is feeling hurt and angry when she sets off home, the urn with her mother’s ashes being stowed in her luggage. Lola is determined to carry out her mother’s last wish, since Catherine wanted to be buried on the Belgian coast where she grew up – by Lola and Philippe. Philippe quickly joins his daughter and reluctantly they set out on their journey to the sea. In the course of their trip, the situation repeatedly escalates, as Philippe is unable to accept his son's outing as a transsexual. Sex reassignment surgery will soon be performed to turn Lionel into Lola for good. Philippe’s shock is all the greater when he learns that Catherine had supported her daughter without his knowledge from the very beginning.
