The Innocence
Original title: La innocència
German title: La innocència
In a few days, people in Alicia’s small town will celebrate the Assumption of Mary. In Spain, 15 August is a feast day with parades and bullfights. But the 15-year-old girl is not very interested in that, the kisses and caresses of her slightly older boyfriend Néstor are much more exciting. Her parents, of course, are not supposed to know about this: Her father is a callous pasha and her mother is caught up in the desire for harmony and the fear of the neighbours’ gossip. It is obvious that Alicia’s parents do not take her dream of attending circus school in Barcelona next year seriously and want to talk her out of it. The only person who stands by her is Alicia’s friend Sara, whose mother is called “eco-witch” in the small town. She is involved in naturopathy and advocates a self-determined life for her daughters as well. When Alicia has to take a difficult decision, she seeks help from the “eco-warriors”. But Alicia has to realise herself that she has to take responsibility for her actions and bear the consequences.
