Liebe Gäste, liebe Kinder und Jugendliche,
Chemnitz ist 2025 Europäische Kulturhauptstadt – und wer wissen will, wie lebendig, kreativ und in-
ternational unsere Stadt ist, der braucht nur einen Blick auf SCHLiNGEL zu werfen. © Philipp Köhler © Philipp Köhler
Seit 30 Jahren begeistert das Festival mit Kinder- und Jugendfilmen aus aller Welt. Ob aus Südkorea,
Turkmenistan oder direkt aus Sachsen – hier laufen Filme, die berühren, zum Nachdenken anregen
und inzwischen recht oft sogar zum ersten Mal überhaupt gezeigt werden. Rund 200 Kurz- und Lang-
filme bieten einen spannenden Querschnitt durch all das, was junge Menschen weltweit verbindet
und bewegt.
Aber SCHLiNGEL ist mehr als nur Kino: Es wird diskutiert, gelernt, mitgemacht. Kinder aus vielen
Ländern bilden die Europäische Kinderjury und Workshops sowie Gespräche machen das Festival zu
einem echten Erlebnis. All das sorgt dafür, dass der Film nicht mit dem Abspann endet.
In herausfordernden Zeiten wie diesen brauchen wir Geschichten, die Mut machen, Verständnis för-
dern und neue Blickwinkel eröffnen. SCHLiNGEL schafft genau das – und transportiert damit das, was Sven Schulze
wir mit dem Kulturhauptstadtjahr vermitteln möchten.

Dear guests, dear children and young people,
Chemnitz is the European Capital of Culture in 2025 – and if you want to know how lively, creative
and international our city is, you only need to take a look at SCHLiNGEL.
For 30 years, the festival has been delighting audiences with childrenʼs and youth films from all over
the world. Whether they are from South Korea, Turkmenistan or directly from Saxony – films are
screened here that are touching, thought-provoking and in many cases are shown for the first time
ever. Around 200 short and feature-length films offer an exciting cross-section of everything that
connects and moves young people around the world.

But SCHLiNGEL is more than just cinema: there is discussion, learning and participation. Children
from many countries form the European Childrenʼs Jury and workshops as well as discussions make
the festival a great experience. All this ensures that the film does not end with the credits.
In challenging times like these, we need stories that give us courage, promote understanding and
open up new perspectives. SCHLiNGEL does just that – and conveys what we want to convey with
the Capital of Culture year.

A big thank you to the entire festival team – and we hope you all enjoy immersing yourselves in the
colourful world of film!
