Liebe Filmfreunde und SCHLiNGEL-Fans,

Dass die 30. Auflage genau in das Kulturhaupt-
„C the Unseen“ heißt das Motto der Kulturhauptstadt Chemnitz und genau darum geht es auch bei
stadtjahr fällt, ist eine schöne Fügung.
Unsere Welt ist voller Geschichten und es lohnt sich, sie zu erzählen. Ob man das Ungesehene entde-
cken oder über den sprichwörtlichen Tellerrand schauen möchte: Immer geht es darum, neu hinzu-
schauen und mehr für möglich zu halten.
Im Jubiläumsjahr wird es neben den bewährten Jurys auch eine deutlich größere Europäische
Kinderjury geben. Sie sendet eine wichtige Botschaft in unsere Gegenwart, in der oft schnell, unbe-
gründet und pauschal verurteilt wird: Gute Urteile brauchen vernünftige Kriterien, ernsthaftes Nach-
denken und offenen Austausch. In einer guten Jury begründet man Positionen, lässt sich auch mal
überzeugen und arbeitet an einem fairen Ergebnis. Das SCHLiNGEL zeigt: Fair entscheiden und gut
begründen ist keine Altersfrage!

Dear movielovers and SCHLiNGEL fans,
“C the Unseen” is the motto of Chemnitz, the European Capital of Culture 2025, and that is exactly
what our international film festival “SCHLiNGEL” is all about. It is a wonderful coincidence that the
30th edition of the festival matches with the European Capital of Culture 2025.
Our world is full of stories, and itʼs worth telling them. Whether you want to discover the unseen or
think outside the box, itʼs always about looking at things in a new way and believing that more is
possible.
In this anniversary year, in addition to the established juries, there will also be a significantly larger
european childrenʼs jury. It sends an important message to our present time, in which judgments
are often made quickly, without foundation, and in a sweeping manner: good judgments require
reasonable criteria, serious reflection, and open exchange. In a good jury, positions are justified,
people allow themselves to be persuaded, and everyone works toward a fair result. SCHLiNGEL
shows that making fair decisions and justifying them well is not a question of age!

My heartfelt thanks go to everyone who has built up and supported SCHLiNGEL over the decades.
I wish SCHLiNGEL a brilliant anniversary year, all visitors much enjoyment, and the jury members
perseverance and a good eye!
