Lights off! Film on!
It is done! This year's SCHLiNGEL program is ready. In order to be prepared for all (Corona) eventualities this year, there will again be the entire cinema experience in our five partner venues: in the CineStar in the Galerie Roter Turm & in the Metropol, in the Carlowitz Congresscenter Chemnitz & the Clubkino Siegmar as well as in the Opera House Chemnitz.
A total of 171 short and feature-length films from 54 countries will be presented during the festival week, with 57 long and 69 short films competing for the coveted trophies in the competition categories Children's Film, Junior Film, Youth Film, Animated Film, Focus on Germany and Short Film. A further 23 productions will be screened in the Panorama section, which is not in competition.
Viewers of all ages can look forward to many new films, which have been selected with great care by the SCHLiNGEL viewing committee over the past months from a pool of more than 2,000 films. A total of 8 productions will celebrate their world premiere at the 28th SCHLiNGEL, 9 films will celebrate their international premiere, two their European premiere and 56 their German premiere. The program focus this year is on the Canadian province of Québec - no less than nine productions will be shown on the big screen in Chemnitz.
